Center-to-center distance between mounting holes from 56 up to 58.2 mm.
The "feathered" position allows the eyepiece to slide with a large range of drift adjustment up to 32 mm (1.26 "), particularly useful in strong side winds. The elevation adjustment has an amplitude of 72 mm (2.85 ”). The structure of the Goodwin diopter offers the advantage of allowing free access of the chamber to any cleaning accessory and of inspecting the barrel between each shot. The base has an adjustment screw allowing the device to be positioned perfectly vertically at all elevation levels.

This high-precision diopter with a cylindrical body eccentric to the axis of the barrel was very popular among long-range shooters of the late 1800s.
