MP40 machine gun, 9mm, Germany 1940 (World War II). With leather strap.
The MP40 (Maschinenpistole 40) was an automatic machine-gun widely used by Nazi Germany (usually by officers and paratroopers) during the Second World War. Designed by Erin's Heinrich Vollmer to equip soldiers with an assault weapon, mostly mechanized infantry units and paratroopers, it was manufactured until the end of the conflict. An excellent weapon for short-range combat (urban areas, forests, etc.), it was ineffective in open field combat because of its short range. This is one of the reasons that led to the design of the Stg-44, the predecessor of modern assault rifles.
