It represents the very first military rifle to be chambered in .58 caliber with a rifled barrel.
The most widely used rifle during the Civil War, the Springfield 1861 was highly regarded for its reliability, accuracy and range. The 40-inch gun and 58 caliber allowed an effective range of 200 to 300 yards. Although difficult to find during the early years of the Civil War, it became the first rifle produced on such a large scale and its popularity continues today. During the American Civil War, it took center stage as the primary weapon; By the end of 1863, the majority of the YANKEE infantry was equipped with the SPRINFIELD 1861, identifiable by the eagle struck on its plate.
This rifle is an authentic reproduction made with high-quality metal and wood finishes, as well as hand-oiled wooden stocks. Approved by the North-South Skirmish Association (N-SSA). Perfect for shooters, hunters, collectors and re-enactors.
